The open stone compartment allows you to pour water over the stones to create an intense steam burst, while the evenly heated stones help maintain a stable, pleasant temperature throughout the sauna.
No electricity and no chimney – flexible installation
The heater does not require electric power or a permanent chimney, making it ideal for mobile setups and locations where infrastructure is limited. All you need is a properly ventilated sauna and a correctly connected gas cylinder placed outside – the heater does the rest.
This makes it particularly convenient for tent saunas, trailer saunas, lakeside saunas, forest saunas, or saunas on holiday plots and campsites.
Economical and clean operation
With a gas consumption of around 0.6 kg/h, the heater is economical to run and still offers fast heat-up times – typically 15–20 minutes. Compared to a traditional wood stove, it removes the need for wood storage, ash removal and chimney cleaning, while CO₂ emissions are significantly lower.
Safety first – ODS and ventilation requirements
The FinSteam Botnia 81 is equipped with an ODS (Oxygen Depletion System) that monitors the oxygen level in the room. If the level drops below a safe threshold, the heater automatically shuts off, increasing safety for users.
It is essential to maintain proper ventilation in the sauna: there must be a fresh air inlet near the heater and an exhaust outlet on the opposite wall (or in the ceiling), in line with the manufacturer’s instructions. The specified minimum distances from combustible materials must also be respected – usually around 50 cm or more, depending on any shielding used.
Installation and gas connection – by professionals only
The heater must be connected to a gas cylinder or gas installation in accordance with local regulations. Installation, first start-up and any service work must be performed only by an authorised gas technician. This ensures safe operation and keeps the manufacturer’s warranty valid.
